Lavender

Lavender has always been my first choice of essential oil and one I don't go anywhere without.  This was the first oil that we learnt about when I studied Aromatherapy. Brilliant to calm anxieties, soothe skin irritations, itchy bites and minor burns.  A drop on the pillow or chest can aid sleep.  When I feel a sore throat coming on I apply lavender to my throat.  It's one of the few oils that we can use neat, without diluting.

I love Lavender.  When else do I use it?  I rub it on my sore back in the evenings.  I bath in it to help me relax and soothe my muscles.  Lavender is a go to oil for headaches and migraines, especially when combined with a drop of peppermint essential oil.  Do be careful not to get it too near your eyes.

My kids grew up knowing that the answer to most ailments was "put some lavender on it", "have a cup of camomile tea" or "have an epsom salt bath".  My darling daughter is just heading off to university and has her organic lavender oil packed.

Lavender is one of the oils that is safe for children, use at a much lower percentage of dilution, depending on age.  1 drop in 5ml of a carrier oil is usually enough for kids.  Less is more.

Other uses: acne, abscesses, boils, bruises (I always take a bottle with me when having blood taken or if I am headed into surgery), colds, coughs, menstrual pain, mood swings, shock and many, many more.

Contra-indications: Early pregnancy.

We stock lavender essential oil, pop into our online shop to order.  A perfect addition to your organic lavender and natural epsom salt baths.
